Compare the whole job
A commission rate only tells you part of the cost. Ask what the company will do, which costs come out of the proceeds, and what happens if the sale brings less than expected. Compare written proposals for the same contents and deadline.
- Photography, research, advertising and staffing
- Marketplace or payment fees, where applicable
- Boxes and packing materials for shipped pieces
- Any separate donation or removal work
- A minimum fee or other charge, if one applies
A weekend sale and in-home consignment have different workloads. Compare the selling routes before comparing their prices.
02
Our standard rate card
The standard tier comes from the estimated value of the contents:
- Under $5,000: 50%
- $5,000 to $19,999: 40%
- $20,000 and above: 35%
An introductory 35% rate is available with a short written or video testimonial about your honest experience. Positive feedback is not required. Google and other review-site reviews do not qualify. Your agreement sets the conditions.
You pay us nothing to start, because we are paid a share of what each piece sells for, after it sells. If it does not sell, we are not paid for it.
Special cases are quoted on their own. An unusually valuable estate gets quoted below the table. So does one holding fine art or real jewelry. A house that is exceptionally full, or well outside our area, may carry a minimum. Either way you get the number before anything starts.
The proposal and agreement set the actual rate, included work and applicable costs. Materials and marketplace fees can affect the amount left to split; commission is not a promise that every expense is included.
03
Agree on the remainder and payment
A sale does not guarantee an empty house. Choose what happens to unsold pieces and agree any additional work before the sale. Check how statements show proceeds, expenses, commission and your share.
One itemized statement and your payment within ten business days of the sale closing.
In-home consignment follows a different payment path: Local buyers pay you at the door, first, and we invoice our share on Friday. When a piece sells online, the marketplace pays us and your share goes out on the first Friday after cleared funds arrive, by check or to the bank you link in your portal. Itemized either way.
