01
Match the actual piece
A maker name is a starting point. The model, edition, condition and included parts determine whether a sale is genuinely comparable. A tool with extra dies or a print from a different edition can support a very different price.
We check markings and photographs before drawing conclusions. If an essential detail is missing, we investigate it or identify the uncertainty in the proposal.
02
Use relevant completed sales
An asking price tells you what someone hopes to receive. A completed sale can support an estimate when the item, condition and selling channel are comparable. Duplicate records of one transaction do not become several sales.
Local furniture and shipped specialist equipment have different markets. Where an exact match is unavailable, similar completed sales can help build a range, with the differences made clear. Handling costs and your deadline also affect the practical selling plan.
03
Agree the proposal before listing
The written proposal identifies the approved pieces, price ranges, our share and the work involved. It is usually ready within 24 hours of the walkthrough; larger or specialist collections can take longer. It is yours to keep whether you hire us or not.
You choose whether to proceed. Your agreed price floor matters, and a proposed change below it requires your approval.
04
The Found Money Guarantee
Every dollar above the number in your proposal is yours, all of it. Our share is worked out on the proposal number and nothing else, so if we estimate a chest at $200 and it brings $2,000, we take our share of the $200 and the whole $1,800 goes to you. We take no commission on the difference.
Read the guarantee and its complete explanation. It is an upside guarantee, not a guarantee that every item will sell.
